What is Online Instagram Wrapped?
Instagram Wrapped turns an Instagram DM chat into a year in review: how many messages you sent, who texts more, your emoji and words of the year, the hour you talk most, your longest streak and who replies faster. It works for a chat with one person or a group chat, and every result is a 9:16 story card, ready to post to your story.
Instagram does not make a Wrapped of your messages. This one reads your chats from Instagram’s “Download your information” file, in your browser: nothing is uploaded, stored or seen by anyone else.
What Is in Your Wrapped
- Messages: the total, a day on average, the days you talked and the photos and reels shared.
- Who texts more: each person’s share, or the top talkers of a group chat.
- Emojis and words: the ones you used most.
- Time: your peak hour, your busiest day and how much you talk after midnight.
- Streak: the most days in a row you talked.
- Replies: who answers faster and who starts the conversations; in a group, awards such as night owl and emoji royalty.
How to use Online Instagram Wrapped?
- Request your messages from Instagram in JSON format: the “How do I export my chat?” button shows every step.
- When Instagram’s email arrives, download the .zip and drop it on the page.
- If the download has several chats, pick one. Then pick the year.
- Go through the cards, then download one, download all of them as a ZIP, or copy one to paste in a story.
Frequently asked questions
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The download is opened and counted in your browser, and the cards are drawn there too. Nothing from it is sent to our servers or anywhere else.
It says my download is in HTML
Instagram offers the download as HTML or JSON, and only JSON has the details Wrapped needs. Request it again with the format set to JSON; you can choose Messages only, which makes it much smaller and quicker.
My download is huge. Can I upload less?
Yes. Unzip it and upload just the chat’s message_1.json (and message_2.json and so on, if there are more) from the messages/inbox folder. Choosing low media quality when you request the download also keeps it small.
Is it made by Instagram?
No. It is an independent tool that reads Instagram’s standard data download; it is not made by, or connected to, Instagram or Meta. For WhatsApp chats, use WhatsApp Wrapped. To make an Instagram DM screenshot instead, use the Instagram DM Generator.
