What is Online Horse Race Simulator?

Horse Race Simulator runs a horse race in which every horse carries a name from your list. The horses break from the gate, swap the lead down the straight and cross the finish line one by one, each place marked as they come in. Use it to pick a random winner, or to put a whole group in a random order with a bit of drama: a fantasy draft, a giveaway, a classroom, or a game night.

    Built for Draft Order Night

Fantasy leagues have used horse races to set the draft order for years: it is more fun than a spreadsheet and harder to argue with. Choose "Full finishing order", enter the ten or twelve managers and race them. When the last horse is in, the order is listed first to last, ready to copy into the league app, and "Share This Race" gives a link that plays the identical race again for anyone who missed it.

    Fair by Design

Who wins is settled when the race starts, by a seed from your browser's cryptographic random generator, and the horses only act it out, so the race cannot be nudged while it runs and every horse has the same chance. A shared link carries that seed, which is why it replays the same race rather than a new one.

How to use Online Horse Race Simulator?

    1. Enter the names for the horses, one per line or separated by commas.
    2. Pick "Pick a winner" or "Full finishing order (draft order)" and set the race length.
    3. Press "Start the Race" and watch; go full screen if the whole room is watching.
    4. Copy the result, share the race link, or race again.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I record the race to post in our league chat?

Choose a format under "Record Video" and the race is filmed as it runs, from the gates to the photo finish, with the hoofbeats and a result card at the end. Landscape fits a group chat or YouTube, vertical fits stories. The file is made on your device: an MP4 in Chrome, Edge and Safari, a WebM in Firefox.

How many horses can I race?

Up to 40, though a classic field is 8 to 14, the size of most fantasy leagues. With more horses the lanes become narrower.

Does the order of names in the list matter?

No. The finishing order is a random shuffle of the whole list; being first or last in the list makes no difference to a horse's chances.

    Can I replay a race?

Yes. "Replay" runs the same race again, and the shared link does the same on any device. "Race Again" starts a new race with a new result.

Is there something lighter for kids?

The Duck Race Simulator does the same with rubber ducks on a river, and it is a favourite in classrooms.
